~ Lu's Class Descriptions ~
No stranger to the instructional or performance stage, Luis has been teaching salsa/mambo classes for over 9 years. His approach to teaching is very systematic, technical, and detailed, as he is also a trained percussionist/musician. He has taken his knowledge of music theory and applied it to his salsa/mambo instructional methods. His class will give you the necessary tools to truly understand the music as well as how to dance to and/or with it, rather than just "dancing with the music on."
Salsa Fun-da-mentals - All the necessary techniques to learn your fundamentals in Salsa/Mambo, but applied to teach you how to dance breaking on the "1" beat. And if you do not know what this means, we strongly recommend you take this course, because Luis will not only explain it to you and teach you how to do so, but also how to find the beat in the music, as he is a trained musician/percussionist. You've probably never looked at dancing the way he is going to teach you. It will all make sense when this class is done. And those ladies who always seem to get lost when doing a turn pattern, this class will make that problem virtually disappear. Mambo Fun-da-mentals - All of the above techniques, but applied to teach you how to dance breaking on the "2" beat. And if you do not know what this means, we strongly recommend you take this course, because Luis will not only explain it to you and teach you how to do so, but also how to find the beat in the music. And those ladies who always seem to get lost when doing a turn pattern, this class will make that problem virtually disappear. At the end of this course, you will know how to find the coveted "2" beat, and at the very least maintain a basic on this beat.

Basic On 1 Salsa (Check Calendar for days and times) - The cornerstone of the salsa world, this is where it all begins for our soon to be Salseros and Salseras. You have never taken a basic Salsa class this detailed, and where you learn so much in such a short amount of time. Ask around. 4 weeks of progressively more difficult instruction. You will learn your basic step, your styling, posturing, turn patterns, cross bodies, and more. You will not find a more comprehensive and systematic basic salsa class out there.
Basic On 2 Salsa (Check Calendar for days and times) - Same as your basic on 1 Salsa class, only this class revolves around breaking on your 2 step - or what has been deemed your "mambo." Again, this class is 4 weeks of progressively more difficult instruction. And you will know how to dance on 2 by the end of this 4 week course.

As Yu Vi Studios’ most advanced Instructor and the director and primary choreographer of the Urban Vibe Dance Company, expect fun yet structured and challenging classes from Jorge in the following areas:
Basic On 1 (Check Calendar for days and times) - This class is a must for those On 1 dancers who want to learn the necessary knowledge base of dancing on the 1 step. If you don’t even know what this means, you need to take this class. Jorge breaks it down to you from the ground up and leaves no fundamental unturned;
Cha Cha Cha (Check Calendar for days and times) – A very fun but intricate dance. This class is amazing in that it explores all the fundamental concepts of this seductive and visually appealing dance form. Learn the proper break step, how to lead, how to follow, and how to dance Cha with pizzazz;
Intermediate Level 1 On 1 (Check Calendar for days and times) – Learn all about advanced cross body leads, positioning, floor use, and intermediate level turn patters estilo “Jorge.” Challenging, but rewarding. This class is for students with a sound fundamental base ready to step it up, but who primarily dance breaking on the 1 step;
Intermediate Level II On 1 (Check Calendar for days and times) – After mastering the concepts in Intermediate Level 1, this class takes it up a notch, teaching more advanced spin techniques, “touch and go’s”, “ins and outs” and how to use them in a manner that makes others say “WOW!!” This class is also for dancers who break on the 1 step.
Intermediate Urban Vibe Style On 2 (Check Calendar for days and times) – Did we mention Jorge also directs his very own dance company (Urban Vibe)?? Learn what he teaches his dancers to make them look so awesome. This class includes not only dance patterns and freestyle techniques, but also some amazing choreography and performance-caliber moves. This class is in HIGH DEMAND, so sign up early!!
~ Pablo Rivera, Jr.’s Class Descriptions~
One of the most talented natural Latin Dance performers ever to come out of Chicago, Pablo River Jr.’s forte is taking a dance and performing it in the most visually appealing way possible. His sultry and seductive dance style has made him extremely popular among the ladies and has men knocking down the door to learn that special “something” Pablo brings to the stage or the dance floor every time he dances.
DIRTIER BACHATA (Check Calendar for days and times) - In this class, Pablo teaches you the bachata - only dirtier. Learn the secrets and methods of using each and every body part when styling your bachata. This class picks up where other instructors leave off, as he doesn't simply teach bachata choreography. He also teaches you what it is to get "dirty" with your bachata;
BACHATA (Check Calendar for days and times) – The internationally crowned “King of Bachata” and multi-time Bachata Champion in competitions throughout Chicago, the United States and parts of the world, Bachata is definitely Mr. Rivera’s dancing forte. Once again, this course is extremely popular among the ladies, and Pablo will teach and show you how to use every muscle fiber in and around your pelvis to do this dance-form the justice it deserves. Gentlemen, this class is a must-take if you are seeking to learn how to elevate your dancing to a whole new level of appeal and sensuality.

As one of Yu Vi Studios’ most seasoned veterans and a social dancing phenom, Luis’ forte is getting you dancing in the nightclubs looking smooth, flashy and confident;
Intermediate On 2 (Varies - Please contact the Studio for more info) – Luis leads you down the same journey of taking your social dancing skills to the next level with this course. Only here, he does it teaching you how to do so breaking on your 2 step. You must have a solid on 2 fundamental base to take this course.
Basic on 1 (Varies - Please contact the Studio for more info) - One of Luis's most popular classes, here you will learn how to the basic step, basic turn, various basic footwork patterns, and learn how to dance to the music. Luis has been doing this for years, so trust that you are in excellent hands.

Elegant, sassy, sophisticated and sleek. . . just a few adjectives describing Kathleen’s dance style. As the studios’ primary female instructor, Kathleen is a trained and gifted talent that can help you ladies take your social dancing to the next level. Here is what she will be teaching:

Kathleen breaks down all the little tricks – from your hands to your head – on how to make any lead look like he knows what he is doing. This class is so crucial to the success of any lady serious about improving her social dancing skills.
